Exodus 29:36,45 And every day you shall offer a bull as a sin offering for atonement. Also you shall offer a sin offering for the altar, when you make atonement for it, and shall anoint it, to consecrate it. And I will dwell among the people of Israel, and will be their God. (RSV)
Moses received instructions from God to consecrate Aaron and his sons as priests. The word consecration means the action of making or declaring something sacred or in other words, holy(pure).
Aaron and his sons weren’t Holy by nature; they needed to consecrate themselves continuously. And because God loves us despite our sinful nature, He sent his only son Jesus who is Holy and Pure to shed his blood for the forgiveness of all sins.
Therefore, it is important to consecrate our lives through Jesus, and evaluate things we are allowing in our hearts, minds and souls, for we are God’s holy temples. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says: Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
God is not far from us, and when we give our lives to Jesus Christ, we enable the Spirit of God to dwell within us and direct all of our steps to the divine purpose.
