Hebrews 4:2-3 For we also have had the good news proclaimed to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith. Now we who have believed enter that rest.

The good news in itself will not save anyone. Even good news that is preached will not save anyone. Only good news that is believed will save.

When you believe in Jesus’ completed work on the cross, you enter God’s rest. You rest from your own works and deeds, and enter what He has done. No longer will you come to God based on your own merits. You come to God based on His merits. No longer will you come to God based on your good works. You come to God based on His good works.

You can receive this rest, when you believe.

If you do not believe this good news, it is of no value to you. You will still try to make amends with God. You will still hope that “one day I’ll be in heaven if I have enough points in God’s book”. You will not enter His rest but will always be striving.

Faith is the key. Simply believe Jesus.
