Genesis 48:17-19 But Joseph was upset when he saw that his father placed his right hand on Ephraim’s head. So Joseph lifted it to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head. “No, my father,” he said. “This one is the firstborn. Put your right hand on his head.” But his father refused. “I know, my son; I know,” he replied. “Manasseh will also become a great people, but his younger brother will become even greater. And his descendants will become a multitude of nations.” (NLT)
In Genesis 27, Jacob pretended to be Esau to receive the firstborn blessings from his father because he understood the value of this blessing. Nevertheless, Jacob was led by God to bless Manasseh and Ephraim according to the calling God placed on their lives; and not based on “who was born first or second”. God is the one who calls us according to his plan and will.
Joseph got upset because he was comparing Manasseh and Ephraim’s blessings. Sometimes we also get upset with God about our circumstances because we are comparing our lives with other people’s callings. Yet there is a particular promise in each and everyone’s life. God wants to reveal his promises to us; all we need to do is to dim the life noises and amplify God’s revelations through prayer and Bible reading.
No calling is higher than the other because every calling is complementary to each other. Therefore, let’s receive our callings and blessings with gratitude because Jesus Christ knows what is best for us.
God is writing your unique life story, and He loves it.
