Judges 13:24 The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson. He grew and the Lord blessed him.
The world has been in chaos for almost a year. Imagine if this would last another 39 years. That is how long the Israelites experienced oppression at the hands of the Philistines. Until God stepped in…
God decided to send a deliverer. The angel of the Lord (many believe Jesus Himself in pre-incarnate form) came and called a man and woman to become parents to a deliverer (sounds familiar?)
That deliverer was born, because God will always be true to His word. They called him Samson, which means ‘light bearer’. Samson became a deliverer to the people, albeit a temporary one. He was an image, a foreshadow of the deliverer that has promised us freedom and hope forever. His name is Jesus!
The birth of Jesus, too, was promised by an angel.
Jesus, too, was born to an unknown couple in the middle of nowhere.
Unlike Samson though, Jesus remains a deliverer forever. He is still with us. He is alive today! He will step in, as soon as we call out to Him. He is the only hope of the world.
