Genesis 9:15 -16 And God said, “I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember.“
Have you ever made a promise and then forgotten about it? Or what about the other way around, someone made a promise to you and then forgot about it? One way to prevent forgetting about something is to tie a knot in a handkerchief. Or to write it on a note on your refrigerator. That will help you remember the promise.
God tied a knot in His creation by forming the rainbow. This beautiful display of God’s grandeur helps Him remember His promise. Pay attention that the rainbow was not placed in the sky for people to remember the promise. God said, “whenever the rainbow appears, I will see it and remember” (verse 16).
God, in effect, said that even if people will forget about my promise, I will not.
I will never forget my people.
God will never forget His promises to you, even when you have forgotten about them.
