God’s self-worth

Numbers 14:23-24 not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it. 24 But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it

God has a sense of self-worth. After all He had done for the Israelites, they did not look to Him or trust Him but they chose to trust the circumstances. They chose to follow what people said rather than what God said.

This hurt God.

God couldn’t let the people enter. The reason was that if the people do not want to be with Me, God said, then they will have to carry the consequences.

But Caleb had a different spirit, and Joshua also. These two followed God wholeheartedly. That is why they were the only ones who God brought into the promised land.

God has a sense of self-worth. He will not be able to lead those who do not want to be led. He will not force blessing on you. He will not force you to trust Him. The land you enter will be as much dependent on you, as it is dependent on God.
