Joseph’s true master

Genesis 39:2 The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.

Joseph’s brothers sold him, and he was taken to Egypt, where he became one of Potiphar’s slaves. The difference between Joseph and other slaves is that the Lord was with him. And, because the favour of the Lord was upon Joseph’s life, Potiphar put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned.

Since the Lord was working through Joseph, Potiphar’s house was blessed for Joseph’s sake. It takes one person at your office or at your school to release God’s blessings. When we stay faithfulness to God and God’s values; heavenly blessings are poured out over everyone around us.

We can stay faithful to God when we understand who is our true master. Is it money? Power? Authority? Joseph had all these, but he also knew who was the master of his life. When Potiphar’s wife wanted Joseph to sleep with her, Potiphar (Joseph’s Egyptian master) wasn’t there, yet Joseph knew that God was watching. In Genesis 39:9, Joseph says: How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God? Joseph was faithful to his earthly master, and most importantly, he was aware that his life belonged to God.

Joseph’s faithfulness to God sent him to prison, but because we serve a God that is above circumstances, even when Joseph found himself at a low point, God never left him. God made Joseph prosper in prison where there seemed to be no hope because Jesus is all we need.

Remember that Jesus is the true master of your life, and when you do everything with the LORD; He will make you prosper!
