Deuteronomy 3:8 “But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see.”

Moses was not to enter the land that God had promised him and the Israelites. He was to commission his successor to inherit it. Joshua inherited the land that Moses had led him to.

Note the wording: “will cause them to inherit the land that you will see.”

The first role of any leader is to see. A leader brings people to a land that he saw far before arriving there. Leaders make sacrifices to bring the people there, even if they cannot enter the land themselves. Moses saw a land that Joshua would occupy.

Are you a leader? Or pastor? What are you seeing for your people? What if you are unable to enter the very land that God showed you? Will you still take the people there, so they can inherit it?

Be strong and courageous and lead the people. God will help you. And your posterity will follow in your footsteps.
