Ephesians 3:10-11,17 God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. (NLT)
The Bible shares instructions on how to live a Christian life and the Apostle Paul reminds us that Jesus came down to die on the cross to save humanity and demonstrate the Christ-like lifestyle. Jesus was guided by God and He shared the truth about our father in heaven. Therefore, when we get the knowledge about Christ, it’s not just for us to memorise but to also share. In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised the power of the Holy Spirit so that we can witness the love of God to the whole world.
Witnesses are never quiet; in fact, their primary responsibility is to speak the truth. And Jesus says we don’t have to do it alone for the Spirit of the living God is here to help us grow and share God’s love.
The church is you and me, and we are not called to be stagnant readers of the scriptures. God intended us to grow in our spiritual life, which means as we read the Bible and trust God, we also ought to apply His instructions.
Applying God’s words looks different for every individual; some may evangelise on the street; some might have to tell a friend that they believe in Jesus. Overall, the goal is to be used by God to display His wisdom.
Our prayers today are:
- Jesus help us let go of the idea of “who we think we are” (Galatians 2:20)
- Jesus help us feed on God’s Words
- Holy Spirit give us the strength to obey God’s words
