This blog does not start with a Bible scripture. We are “in between” two quarters of our reading plan.
Sometimes it’s good to linger at the in between. To pause and ponder. Once, a minister in a church I was visiting, opened his Bible to a blank page. He said, “please all turn to the blank page in your Bible”. I wondered, which blank page is he talking about?
It turned out the page he had open, was the page in between the Old Testament and the New Testament. He then started preaching on the blank page. The blank page covered a 400 year period in the history of Israel, a period where God was silent. The blank page stands for the transition between the old and the new. Between the law and grace. Between salvation by works and salvation by faith.
We are now not living on the blank page anymore! God is not silent anymore. His Holy Spirit lives inside you and speaks to His people. You as God’s child are hearing the Shepherd’s voice. We are now living in the NEW covenant! You are an heir of all the promises of God, in Jesus.
Consider the blank page. Then thank God that the old has gone, and the new has come!
