Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding
Someone once said, “if you can understand God than it’s not God you know”. In other words, if God could fit in your mind, then your mind is your god.
God is way bigger, way beyond our comprehension. He asks us things that seem ridiculous to the natural mind.
“Leave your father’s home and go the land I will show you”
“Go and sell all you have, give to the poor and follow Me”
“Forgive all those who have wronged you”
“Pray for and submit to the government”
“Bring the first ten percent of all your increase to Me”
“Stand up for Me, even if it costs you your life”
“Walk the narrow road and you will find life”*
How do we do this?
How can we follow God with our earthly mind?
We don’t.
We follow God with our heart.
We trust in the Lord with all our heart and (then) we will not lean on our own understanding.
When God calls me to go to the land He will show… I will trust Him with my heart.
When God calls me to sell all I have and give to the poor, I will trust Him with my heart.
When God calls me to forgive those who have wronged me, I will trust Him with my heart.
When God calls me to pray for and submit to the government, I will trust Him with my heart.
When God calls me to bring the first and the best to Him, I will trust Him with my heart.
When God calls me to stand up for Him even when it costs me my life, I will trust Him with my heart.
When God calls me to walk the narrow road… I will trust Him… with my heart.
