TRUST, OBEY & GO!!

1 Samuel 30:8 Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you! (NLT)

Let’s step back a little in 1 Samuel 29, David was going to the battle with the Philistines, and on the way, the Philistine commanders didn’t want David and his men to join the fight because they were afraid that David would turn against them on the battlefield. So King Archish asked David to go back to Ziklag peacefully.

David was sad and said: what have I done to deserve this treatment? But he still obeyed, and headed back into the land of the Philistines, while the Philistine army went on to Jezreel (1 Samuel 29:8,11).

Maybe you are in a situation where you feel undervalued or rejected because of something you didn’t do, always remember that your situation doesn’t change who you are inside. Just because the Philistines didn’t want David, it didn’t mean he was a bad warrior; in fact, he was a great one that’s why they were afraid of him in the first place.

REMEMBER: Today’s “step back” is preparing you for tomorrow’s victory! How do we know that? Well, let’s read what happened next:

Three days later, when David and his men arrived home at their town of Ziklag, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid into the Negev and Ziklag; they had crushed Ziklag and burned it to the ground. They had carried off the women and children and everyone else but without killing anyone. (1 Samuel 30:1-2)

Now we don’t know what would have happened if David stayed at the battle with the Philistines.

  • Would he still have found the Egyptian man alive to take him to the Amalekites if he came 15 days later?
  • Would David still had 600 men if he had fought the first battle with the Philistines?

We don’t know, but what we know is that God had a plan, and he also has a plan for your life! Therefore, we ought to trust in the Lord because he can see the full picture.

When you are facing troubles like David, do as David PRAY!
The passage shared that David’s men wanted to stone him, but he didn’t take that pressure in the presence of God; instead, he asked for God’s guidance saying: Should I chase after this band of raiders?

Today, my prayer is that you will always Trust God in your good and challenging times, knowing that He has a plan for your life. And like David Obey God’s instructions not with your mind only but also with your Actions.
