Exodus 7:3, 5 But I will make Pharaoh’s heart stubborn so I can multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt. When I raise my powerful hand and bring out the Israelites, the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” (NLT)
The question is: Why did God harden Pharaoh’s heart?
To answer this question, let’s go back to Exodus 3:19 “But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him.” God is all-knowing, and he already knew the state of Pharaoh’s heart; Pharaoh was not going to let the Israelites go without opposition. Consequently, Pharaoh’s heart was already stubborn as he wasn’t doing God’s will, and he wanted to keep God’s people under captivity. God used what was evil to multiply miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt.
Think about it, Israelites were enslaved by Pharaoh and suffered from his evil actions. If Pharaoh would have miraculously let the people go, then Israelites would have glorified him for his mercy. But God further hardened Pharaoh’s heart so that through many miracles, the Egyptians also acknowledged that God is powerful.
Therefore, God wants us to praise him when we go through difficult times because through our obedience, God is glorified, and many lost souls get to know that Jesus is Lord.
Prayer of the day: We praise you God and surrender our lives to you because we know that the name of Jesus will be glorified in every good or bad circumstance of our lives. Amen
